We are excited to announce the release of FunOS 24.10 with Calamares Installer, an interim release based on Ubuntu 24.10 (Oracular Oriole). This release brings the latest updates from the Ubuntu repositories, a refreshed kernel, and a new installation experience powered by Calamares.

What’s New in FunOS 24.10 with Calamares Installer?

1. Updated Package Base

All packages in FunOS 24.10 have been updated from the Ubuntu 24.10 “Oracular” repositories as of February 4, 2025, ensuring the latest security patches, software updates, and performance improvements.

2. Linux Kernel 6.11.0-14

This release includes the Linux Kernel 6.11.0-14, bringing better hardware support, improved power management, and enhanced system performance.

3. Calamares Installer

FunOS 24.10 now uses Calamares as the default OS installer, replacing the previous Ubiquity-based installation. Calamares offers:

• A more user-friendly and faster installation process
• An intuitive and modern UI
• Improved partitioning options
• A streamlined setup experience

4. Interim Release Support

As an interim release, FunOS 24.10 is supported until July 2025, with updates and security patches available during this period. Users requiring long-term stability are encouraged to use FunOS 24.04.1 LTS, which has extended support.
