This release builds upon the Ubuntu 25.04 “Plucky Puffin” base and brings updated packages, performance improvements, and continued focus on providing a fast, lightweight, and reliable GNU/Linux operating system.

Whether you’re reviving old hardware or seeking a distraction-free Linux desktop, FunOS continues to deliver a minimal yet powerful user experience.

Highlights of This Release

FunOS 25.04 introduces several core updates and improvements to make your experience even better:

1. Based on Ubuntu 25.04 “Plucky Puffin”

This release is built on Ubuntu 25.04 (Plucky Puffin), incorporating all package updates from the Ubuntu repositories as of April 20, 2025. You’ll benefit from the latest software, drivers, and features available upstream.

2. Updated Linux Kernel

FunOS 25.04 ships with Linux Kernel 6.14.0-15, which brings enhanced hardware support, performance improvements, and better power management.

3. Firefox ESR 128.9.0esr

We’ve included Firefox ESR 128.9.0esr (Extended Support Release) as the default web browser. ESR versions prioritize stability and long-term support, making them ideal for users who prefer reliability over frequent feature updates.

⚠️ Ubiquity Cursor Issue in Live Session

When using the Try FunOS (live session) and launching the Ubiquity installer, you may notice that the mouse cursor does not visually change to indicate progress (e.g., spinning or hourglass icon) during certain stages of installation. This is a known issue caused by how Ubiquity interacts with lightweight window managers like JWM.

✅ Recommended Solution:
For a smoother installation experience, we recommend selecting “Install FunOS” directly from the boot menu, instead of launching the installer from the live desktop.
