The FunOS Project is pleased to announce the release of FunOS 26.04 LTS (Build 20260608). This Long-Term Support release is based on Ubuntu 26.04 LTS and focuses on stability, reliability, and installer improvements while delivering updated software packages across the system.
What’s New in FunOS 26.04 LTS (Build 20260608)
1. Updated Package Base
FunOS 26.04 LTS includes the latest package updates available at the time of release, providing improved stability, security updates, and enhanced hardware compatibility.
2. Linux Kernel 7.0.0-22
This release ships with Linux Kernel 7.0.0-22, offering updated hardware support, performance improvements, and bug fixes inherited from the Ubuntu 26.04 LTS package base.
3. Firefox ESR 140.11.0esr
The default web browser has been updated to Firefox ESR 140.11.0esr, bringing the latest Extended Support Release security fixes and stability enhancements.
4. Encryption Boot Error Resolved
A critical issue affecting encrypted installations has been fixed.
Previously, selecting “Encrypt system” (LUKS) during installation could result in an unbootable system after the installation process completed. FunOS 26.04 LTS now correctly generates the initramfs with full LUKS and LVM support on the target disk, ensuring encrypted systems boot properly.
5. Improved Installer Robustness
Additional storage and volume management utilities are now included in the installation environment. These improvements allow the Calamares installer to more reliably detect, probe, format, and manage a wider range of filesystems, partitions, logical volumes, and encrypted storage configurations.
