Dark mode enhances the visual appeal of the desktop while reducing eye strain, especially in low-light environments. FunOS allows users to enable dark mode by adjusting wallpaper, theme settings, and the LightDM login screen. Follow the steps below to enable dark mode in FunOS.
1. Set a Dark Wallpaper
The first step in enabling dark mode is to choose a dark wallpaper that matches the theme.
- Click the Menu in the lower-left corner of the screen.
- Click Set Wallpaper.
- Select a dark wallpaper, such as
172.jpg
located in/opt/artwork/wallpaper/
. - Click Apply to set the wallpaper.

2. Set the LightDM GTK Greeter Background
The LightDM GTK Greeter is responsible for the appearance of the login screen. You can configure it to use a dark background.
- Click the Menu in the lower-left corner of the screen.
- Click Settings > LightDM GTK Greeter settings.
- In the Image section, click the folder icon and select a dark wallpaper, such as
172.jpg
from/opt/artwork/wallpaper/
. - Click Open, then Save, and finally Close.

3. Set the GTK Theme to a Dark Theme
GTK themes control the appearance of windows, menus, and applications. Switching to a dark theme ensures consistency across the entire system.
- Click the Menu in the lower-left corner of the screen.
- Click Settings > Customize Look and Feel.
- Go to the Widget tab.
- Select
Adwaita-dark
. - Click Apply, then Close.

4. Logout and Log Back In
For the changes to take full effect, log out and then log back in.
- Click the Menu in the lower-left corner of the screen.
- Click Log Out.
- Click Logout.
- Log back into your account.
5. Verify the Dark Mode Appearance
