We’re super excited to announce that the Beta for FunOS 26.10 is now available for download! As we gear up for the final stable release on October 18, 2026, we want to give you a sneak peek at what we’ve been working on—and we need your help to test it out!
What’s Cooking in 26.10?
This release brings some massive under-the-hood upgrades to make your experience smoother, faster, and more secure. Here is a quick rundown of the big changes you can expect:
- Ubuntu 26.10 Base: We are riding the “Stonking Stingray” wave with the latest packages.
- Linux Kernel 7.3: Bringing you the freshest hardware support and performance boosts.
- 100% Rust Core Utilities: We’ve replaced the traditional core utilities with their memory-safe Rust equivalents. Faster and much more secure!
- PipeWire for Everything: Say goodbye to old audio headaches! PipeWire is now our default multimedia server, meaning lower latency and flawless Bluetooth audio.
- dbus-broker: We swapped out
dbus-daemonfordbus-brokerto give the system better reliability and speed. - The Ultimate Broadcom Support: Got an old (or new) Broadcom Wi-Fi chip? We now bundle a comprehensive suite of drivers right out of the box. No more internet-less head-scratching after installation!
- DPMS Screen Blanking: We ditched XScreenSaver for screen blanking in favor of a much lighter
DPMS (
xset) approach. It completely fixes the annoying input lockups some of you reported. - Fresh Aesthetics: Enjoy a brand-new boot splash screen and some stunning new default wallpapers, including our sleek “Synthwave Crimson” theme!

Remember, this is a Beta release. That means you might encounter a few rough edges, bugs, or quirks. We highly recommend testing this on a virtual machine, a spare laptop, or a non-production partition. It is not ready for your daily driver just yet!
