How to Install Pavucontrol on FunOS

PulseAudio Volume Control (pavucontrol) is a simple GTK based volume control tool (“mixer”) for the PulseAudio sound server. In contrast to classic mixer tools this one allows you to control both the volume of hardware devices and of each playback stream separately. It also allows you to redirect a playback stream to another output device without interrupting playback.

Here is how to install pavucontrol on FunOS:

Open a terminal and run the following commands:

sudo apt update

sudo apt install pavucontrol -y

After installing pavucontrol, don’t forget to click the menu in the bottom left corner of the screen, then click the Reload menu. The goal is for pavucontrol to appear in the menu.

After installing pavucontrol, the next step is to set the Volume Icon application on the taskbar to use pavucontrol as an external mixer.

The method is as follows:

Right-click on the Volume Icon icon. Then click Preferences.

click preferences

In the External mixer section, change the column on the right with pavucontrol as in the following image, then click Close.

set pavucontrol as external mixer

Now you can access pavucontrol by right-clicking on the Volume Icon icon. Then click Open Mixer.

click open mixer

Then pavucontrol will be displayed.
